During our trips we have visited a number of islands, Cumbrae is definitely a great place to visit while you’re here, particularly for the cycling which is a massive attraction on the island. Scotland’s islands are a real treasure, housing some of the most beautiful historical sites and seaside towns in the world. (Crocodile Rock, a rock that’s been on the shore since 1913, people thought it looked like a crocodile, someone then painted it to look like one, but no one is sure when this occurred.) Cumbrae in general is one of Scotland’s most famous islands, and is popular among tourists and local people alike as a destination for holidays. It has a lovely beach, where the Crocodile Rock (pictured) is located, and it also boasts Britain’s smallest cathedral, called the Cathedral of the Isles. Millport is a popular holiday destination, and well known to all who have lived in Scotland for some time. The proper name of the island is Great Cumbrae, but don’t let this fool you: it is in fact small enough to cycle around in under an hour! You can get a certificate for accomplishing this feat from one of the local bike hire shops.
